if the two differ, the Korean text prevails.
Kim Myung Joon (the "operator") handles your personal data with care while running Baetnil
(the "App") and complies with the Personal Information Protection Act of Korea.
1. What is collected
a. When you sign up (used for signing in)
· Signing in with Google: email address, name (your Google display name), account identifier
· Signing up with email: email address, password (the operator cannot see it)
Note: the email address is used only to verify sign-in. It is held by Google Firebase
Authentication and is not stored in the App's user list. The operator therefore cannot
see your email address on any App screen, and it does not appear in crew lists or join
requests. People are told apart by name and the last digits of the account identifier.
b. What you enter while using the App
· Boat details (name, type, home port, specifications), gear, maintenance, repair and fuel records
· Logbook entries (dates, routes, coordinates), berth positions and photographs, market listings and photographs
· Community posts and comments, crew names and ranks, contacts
· The note you leave for the owner when applying to join a boat
c. When you contact Support (needed to reproduce the problem)
· Your message, the App version, browser type, screen size, the screen you were on, whether you were online
d. Location
· Current position (GPS): received only with your permission, to show weather and tides.
It is stored on your device only and is not sent to the server.
· Home port, berth and voyage coordinates: values you mark on the map yourself; these are stored on the server.
Note: resident registration numbers, card numbers and bank account numbers are never collected.
2. How it is collected
You enter it in the App yourself, or it is received from your Google account when you sign in.
The only thing collected automatically is the device information attached to a Support enquiry.
3. Why it is used
· to create your account and verify who you are
· to show the same records on several devices and let a crew manage a boat together
· to show weather, tides and marine warnings for where the boat is
· to run the community and the market, and to handle reports
· to fix faults and answer enquiries
It is not used for any other purpose. If the purpose changes, your consent is sought beforehand.
4. How long it is kept
· Account details: until you leave
· Boat records and posts: until you delete them, or until you leave
· Support enquiries: 3 years after the reply (in case of dispute)
· Reports and sanctions: 3 years (to see whether the same thing recurs)
When you leave, data is destroyed without delay. Records the law requires us to keep are
held separately for that period.
5. Is it given to anyone else
No. It is not sold either. It is disclosed only where an investigative authority requires
it through lawful process.
6. Processing entrusted to others
· Google LLC (Firebase Authentication, Cloud Firestore)
- What they do: sign-in processing, data storage
- Where the data is: Seoul region, Republic of Korea
The processing agreement requires personal data to be handled securely.
7. How it is destroyed
Once the retention period ends or the purpose is met, data is destroyed without delay.
Electronic files are deleted by a method that makes them unrecoverable.
8. Your rights
You may at any time see, correct or delete your personal data, or ask that its processing stop.
· In the App: Menu › Account, My Boat › Basics, and the delete action on each record
· Other requests: Support, or jaha814@gmail.com
Requests are handled without delay and the outcome is communicated to you.
A minor aged 14 or over may exercise these rights themselves.
9. Children under 14
The App does not accept anyone under 14. If it is established that a user is under 14,
the account and its data are deleted.
10. How it is kept safe
· Access control: only a boat's crew can see that boat's records, and what each person may do
depends on their rank. This is enforced by server rules, not merely hidden on screen.
· Collecting less: the email address is used only to verify sign-in and is not kept in the user
list. What is not held cannot leak.
· Encryption in transit (HTTPS)
· Passwords are handled by Google Firebase and cannot be seen by the operator.
· Access to personal data is limited to one person: the operator.
11. What is stored on your device
The App stores the following in your device's browser:
· the last screen you were on, your saved spots, and a copy of your records for offline use
Clearing site data in your browser settings removes them too.
12. Location data
· Current position (GPS) is received only with your permission and used only on your device.
You can use the App without granting it — simply choose a spot yourself.
· Home port, berth and voyage coordinates that you mark on the map are stored on the server.
Voyage coordinates can be seen only by that boat's crew, and they are never published even
if the boat is made public.
· For details, please see the Location Information Terms.
13. Data protection officer
· Name: Kim Myung Joon
· Contact: jaha814@gmail.com
Please direct enquiries, complaints and requests for redress concerning personal data to the
address above or to Support inside the App.
14. If your rights are infringed
You may seek help from the following bodies:
· Personal Information Infringement Report Centre (privacy.kisa.or.kr / 118)
· Personal Information Dispute Mediation Committee (kopico.go.kr / 1833-6972)
· Supreme Prosecutors' Office, Cybercrime Division (spo.go.kr / 1301)
· National Police Agency, Cyber Bureau (ecrm.police.go.kr / 182)
15. When this policy changes
Changes are announced inside the App, and consent is sought again for material changes.
This policy applies from 18 August 2026. (Version 1.2)
